error aclocal configure.ac 136 macro AM_CFLAGS not found in library

Si sucede el siguiente error en alguna compilación:

aclocal configure.ac 136 macro AM_CFLAGS not found in library

es suficiente con actualizar a automake1.9

#sudo apt-get install automake1.9
